Florida, Fort Myers - Mitchell “Buddy” Jacobs, 77. passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, February 15, 2009. He had been a resident here for the past 32 years formerly of Memphis, TN where he was born March 27, 1933 to Merrill and Hattie Jacobs. Buddy proudly served his country in the United States Navy, and was founder of several drycleaners in Memphis and Dolphin Cleaners in Ft. Myers. He was a member of McGregor Baptist Church and the Cypress Lake Country Club. He is lovingly survived by his wife Bettye West Jacobs, son Wess (Sherri) Jacobs of Ft. Myers, daughter Betsy (Randy) Collins of Portland, TN and eight grandchildren, Tim and Brett White, Lydia Collins Moss, Sara and Rachel Collins, Kristin, Noah and Marissa Jacobs and great-grandson, Tanner White. Buddy was preceded in death by his daughter, Tara White, brother, Merrill “Pike” Jacobs and his parents. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 1:00 at McGregor Baptist Church, 3750 Colonial Blvd., Ft. Myers with Rev. James O. Holbrook, officiating.
